Marine Corps, ETS Dec 10th, from Texas, 5 years active, spent time in Japan, Iraq, some banana boat thing in Panama, was a repairman. 1st semester at Columbia. Applied for Delegate at large on the GS council.

Army five years, Kuwait, Iraq, Bomb squad team leader in EOD. 1st Year at Columbia, Staff Sgt

MCMAP
Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, began 1999
Suggests we begin this program here, student organization
Once per week, gauge interest, maybe bump up to twice per week
We need a group of interested individuals, will be dues, (Jiu-Jitsu is $60, but hopefully this will be less)
Need to find a MCMAP certified instructor (Perhaps dues pay this)
Asks for list of names after meeting to demonstrate interest

Tyler, Movie Night
Lerner isn’t conducive to movie nights (no drinks, noise), suggests moving the movie night to someone’s apt. Julia volunteered her apt for these.
Tyler has a projector screen that he can bring to show the movies. Julia has dvd player and sound system.
We’ll be able to bring drinks and food.
Suggestions for choice of movie. Tyler suggested maybe Alien (“space marines”)
Will work on a night, maybe next Thursday, February 2nd, but that might be a conflict.
First time next Thursday, 2030

Live situations, what would you do in emergency situations?
Teaches lethal and non-lethal techniques, as well as non-fatal pain inducing techniques
Mix of jiu-jitsu, tai kwon do, karate
CQB – close quarters battle
Announced the student SIPA outdoorsman group
Also suggested that we can go paintballing

Leadership Seminar – campus leaders, administrators, outside speakers
Give out tips for leadership techniques that may be useful in the civilian world
Look for lecturers (from the vets group)
Todd. suggestion – maybe a panel about the transition from military to civilian life
Mike P., suggestion, maybe get an outside speaker (West Point prof, super, etc)

Post-Grad Debriefing
Having alumni come together and discuss how life’s going, and how things are for a Columbia veteran out in the world
Will and Carolina Melendez offered their apt for this

Collecting abandoned household items at the end of the semester
Put out cardboard boxes with signs to collect school supplies
